Maria Holland was born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland. Currently residing in Ontario, Canada, she graduated from the University of Waterloo Fine Arts program in studio specialization, Deans Honours list in 2012. She is the 2012 recipient of the UW Faculty of Fine Arts Departmental Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement and member of Art District Gallery in St. Jacobs, ON.

Taking inspiration from contemporary sources and events she uses the canvas, colour and mark-making as tools to question reality. Exploring themes that extend across our earth and into the cosmos, she creates visceral works that seek to represent both the conceptual and the intellectual.
